Katine Technical College Student Found Dead in Dam

A 19-year-old student at Katine Technical Training College was found dead in a dam in Katine Village, Matungulu Sub-County, Machakos County, after going missing following school on Friday, September 25, 2026.

The deceased, identified as Brian Makau Kyulu, failed to return home that evening. His family reported him missing at Tala Police Station the following morning, and later received information that his clothes, a radio, and a mobile phone had been found on the banks of a dam in Katine.

Police who responded to the scene recovered his body from the dam. Officers said blood and foam were visible around his mouth and nose, though no visible injuries were found on the body. The scene was processed before his remains were taken to Machakos Funeral Home, where an autopsy is expected to help establish the cause and circumstances of his death. Police said investigations remain ongoing.
