Man Found Dead in Water Well in Juja

Separately, a 61-year-old man was found dead inside a 10-foot-deep water well in Juja, Kiambu County, after reportedly leaving home to fetch water and never returning.

The deceased, identified as Samuel Waithaka Njogu, was found in the well on Saturday, September 26, in Juja Farm. He had left his rented house at around 9:30 p.m. the previous night to collect water from a well roughly 150 metres away. When he failed to return, his workmates grew concerned. The next morning, one of them went to the well and spotted a blue jerrycan similar to the one Waithaka had been carrying floating in the water. Looking closer, he saw Waithaka's body submerged and alerted neighbours and police.

Preliminary findings suggest Waithaka may have slipped and fallen into the well, drowning with no one nearby to help. His body, which showed no visible injuries, was taken to Thika General Kago Mortuary pending a postmortem.

In a third incident, a 26-year-old man drowned in River Mwanzai in Chonyi, Kilifi County, after reportedly suffering a seizure while bathing.

Police believe he suffered a seizure while in the water, causing him to fall, strike his head on rocks, and drown. His body was moved to Kilifi County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem.
