'Come in Daylight, Not at Night": Kawira Mwangaza Responds to Alleged Plan to Raid Her Home

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has raised concern over what she claims is a plan by state agencies to raid her home at night, issuing a defiant public response and challenging anyone involved to instead come during the day.

Mwangaza said she had received intelligence indicating that investigations were set to expand from the Meru County offices to private residences belonging to her, her children, and her sisters. In a strongly worded Facebook statement, she alleged that investigators had spent weeks at the county offices searching for material that could link her to a corruption scandal dating back to her time as governor.

"Credible intelligence has confirmed to me what I already suspected: for weeks, the usual State-weaponized agencies have been camping at the Meru County offices, witch-hunting, fishing, digging for anything to tie me to a corruption scandal from my time as Governor," she wrote.

She claimed the prolonged investigation had failed to turn up anything against her, alleging that attention had since shifted toward her family members' homes. "So now, out of pure frustration, they've planned to raid my home and the homes of my children and my sisters, hoping to plant, to frame, to manufacture what they couldn't find," she alleged.

Mwangaza was especially pointed about the possibility of a nighttime operation, warning against any such approach. "Here is my answer: I have nothing to hide. You are invited. You are welcome. Come search my house. But come in broad daylight. Don't come at night. Don't send goons," she said, adding that she was prepared to personally accompany investigators through her home. "I will personally walk you through my kitchen, my bedrooms, every corner you wish to see."

She went on to tie the alleged investigations to her political activities, insisting they would not deter her. "But if you think State-sponsored investigations and prosecution will break my resolve or silence my political stand, you are DEAD WRONG," she declared.
