CCTV Footage Shows Final Moments of 24-Year-Old Woman Before Fatal Incident in Arusha

CCTV footage from a club in Arusha, Tanzania, has surfaced showing the last confirmed moments of 24-year-old Irene before her death, shedding new light on what may have happened that night.

The footage was shared by journalist Millard Ayo on September 15, 2026, and shows Irene leaving the club alone and alive at around 4 a.m. The video is significant because it contradicts earlier assumptions that she had died inside the venue — it now appears she left the club safely, meaning whatever happened to her occurred afterward, outside.

According to her family, Irene had gone out with friends on the night of September 13. She had spoken to her mother that evening and said she would bring her child home in the morning.

At around 6 a.m. the next day, two of her friends arrived at her mother's house and told her Irene had been injured and taken to hospital, where she later died. Her mother, Mariam Selemani, said she has since received conflicting accounts of what happened — one version suggesting Irene had been in a fight, another claiming she was trying to break up a fight between friends when she was found bleeding on the ground.

Staff at the club, known as The HUB, said the incident did not occur inside the venue but outside its gate. Police visited the club and collected the CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

Authorities have since launched a full investigation, and two people who were with Irene that night are being questioned as police work to establish what actually happened.
