RIP: Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana Loses 8-Year-Old Daughter Amal

Grief has hit Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana's family after losing their daughter.

Amal Mghoi Mungatana died on September 13, 2026 at Gertrude's Children's Hospital in Muthaiga.

She was 8 years old. She was the last-born daughter of Senator Mungatana and Mwanaisha Chidzuga.

The family confirmed the death in a statement. Chidzuga is Deputy Government Spokesperson.

"Amal had struggled with her health since she was born 8 years ago," the family said.

She received treatment both in Kenya and abroad.

"We thank God for the wonderful smiles and love that she brought to the family," the family said.

The family is gathered at their home in Ngao Village.

Amal will be buried on Friday, September 18, 2026 in Ngao Village.

Mungatana is Tana River Senator since 2022. He previously served as Garsen MP from 2002 to 2013.
