Fear has gripped Mbeere North in Embu County after the body of a boda boda chairman was found in a bush.
The body of Harrison Waweru Kinyanjui, 47, was discovered on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Mbuguri Village, Kiangombe Location.
He was found lying in a pool of blood near a roadside in Kariru Sub-location.
Police officers who visited the scene confirmed he had a gunshot wound slightly beneath his right ear.
Two pistol cartridges were recovered at the scene.
According to police, Waweru was the chairman of boda boda riders in Siakago Township.
His wife told police he went missing on September 2, 2026. She said he was last seen at around noon after dropping her at the NG-CDF Mbeere North office in Siakago.
He never returned home.
Crime Scene Investigation officers from Embu processed the scene. The body was moved to Embu Level 5 Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
Police have launched investigations to establish the motive and identify the killers.
The murder has sparked outrage among boda boda riders in Siakago. They described him as a dedicated leader who championed their welfare.
Family members have demanded swift justice.
Police have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
