Kisii: 2 Men Die in Bar Fight Over Woman in Marani

Two men have died after a violent fight inside a popular bar in Marani Sub-County, Kisii County, on Monday night, September 8, in what police believe was caused by a love triangle.

Police identified the dead as Bonface Amwoma Okeyo and Dennis Mayaka Asago.

According to police, Okeyo was stabbed inside one of the bar's toilets. A female worker at the bar told officers that a customer alerted her that a man was lying injured in the toilet, while another man had locked himself inside a different toilet.

A bodaboda rider rushed Okeyo to Nyangena Hospital in Kisii town, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Doctors found a single stab wound on the left side of his chest.

Asago, who is believed to have stabbed Okeyo, remained locked inside the toilet. An angry mob forced their way in and attacked him. He later died from injuries sustained during the mob justice.

Police said preliminary investigations show the two men had argued over a woman before the fight turned deadly.

Officers visited the scene and took the bodies to mortuaries pending post-mortem examinations. Asago's body is at Marani Sub-County Referral Hospital mortuary, while Okeyo's body is at Nyangena Hospital mortuary.

Police are still searching for the murder weapon and are investigating both the stabbing and the mob attack.
