Muhoozi Kainerugaba Orders Turks Out of Uganda, Plans Big Protest at Turkish Embassy

Ugandan General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is also President Yoweri Museveni's son, has caused a stir after ordering Turkish nationals to leave Uganda and announcing a demonstration at the Turkish Embassy in Kampala.

In a series of posts on X on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Muhoozi said he had completely cut ties with Turkish interests in the country. "I have already severed ANYTHING to do with the Turks in Uganda. They should pack their bags as soon as possible and get out of our country," he wrote.

He went ahead to announce that there will be a demonstration at the Turkish Embassy on September 18, and said a legislator identified as Hon. Fadhil will be in charge of the protest. Muhoozi said the group calling itself PLU will be there in full force and warned that anyone acting as a Turkish agent during the protest will be arrested.

"We are demonstrating in full force at the Turkish Embassy on the 18th of September. Hon. Fadhil is in charge of this demonstration. PLU better do a good job. My order will not change this time. Instead we will arrest ANY Turkish agent who says anything different!" he posted.

In another post, Muhoozi said he plans to visit Greece to pay respects at what he described as the grave of his ancestor, Alexander the Great, though he did not give more details about the trip.

His remarks came just hours after he posted a list of people he says he fears, naming God, his father President Museveni, his mother Janet Museveni, his uncle Saleh, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

By the time of publishing, there was no official response from the Turkish government or the Turkish Embassy in Kampala.

His comments also come at a time when there are tensions in the region over foreigners, with Kenya giving undocumented foreigners 90 days to register their businesses after Burundian traders were harassed in Nairobi.
