Outrage After Dandora Woman Says She Was Arrested Despite Reporting Assault by Neighbour

 A woman in Dandora says she was arrested after going to police to report being assaulted by her neighbour — a turn of events that has stirred anger over how her complaint was handled.

According to her account, the alleged assault took place on Friday, July 11. She said she reported it soon after, and was given an OB number along with a P3 form to formally document her injuries. She described her condition following the incident as serious, saying she was coughing up blood and had lost sensation on the left side of her body.

She claims the neighbour she accused filed a counter-complaint at the same police post the same day, alleging that she herself was the victim.

When the woman returned to record her official statement, she says officers instead placed her under arrest — despite, in her telling, having visible injuries while her neighbour did not. She also alleges she has since been denied access to medication while in custody, and expressed frustration that the neighbour she accuses has not faced arrest. "Yeye hajashikwa" — "she hasn't been arrested" — she said, referring to the other woman.

A neighbour who says she witnessed the incident has since come forward to support her account, describing a clear physical mismatch between the two women that she says makes it unlikely the complainant was the aggressor. The witness further alleged that the way the case was handled reflects bias based on the woman's tribe and financial situation rather than the evidence itself, calling the outcome unjust and appealing to the public for help securing legal representation for her.

Members of the public have since been called on to rally behind the woman as she seeks access to justice.
