Two Separate Murders Under Investigation in Bungoma and Kwale Over the Same Weekend

 

Kenyan police are investigating two unrelated killings reported within hours of each other over the weekend of September 19, one in Bungoma County and the other in Kwale County — both cases now in the hands of Crime Scene Investigation and DCI teams as authorities work to piece together what happened.

In Bungoma, the body of a 35-year-old Ugandan woman, identified only as Dianah, was discovered in a locked lodging room at Kanduyi Market after she failed to respond to attempts to wake her on Saturday morning. When the door was broken open, police found her lying lifeless with a deep head wound, blood splashes on the walls, and a bedsheet reportedly stuffed in her mouth — details that quickly pointed investigators toward foul play. Three people have since been arrested to assist with the investigation.

Hundreds of kilometres away in Kwale, a worker at Agro Fibre Company in Taru was found dead on the same day, discovered by the company's own security team lying in a pool of blood with visible cut wounds to the neck. The victim, identified as Safari Ngundi, was a staff member at the firm. No arrests have been reported yet in that case, and DCI officers from Taru are continuing to process the scene for leads.

Both cases remain open, with postmortem examinations pending at Bungoma County Referral Hospital and Kinango Hospital mortuaries respectively. Taken together, the two incidents highlight how quickly serious violent crime can surface across different corners of the country within the same short window — underscoring the scale of what local police and county-level investigators are regularly tasked with untangling.
