Father Accused of Fatally Stabbing His Son in Kitutu Chache South; Community Anger Boils Over

A father is accused of fatally stabbing his firstborn son while the child was taking a shower, in an incident in Iranda, Bombeta 2, Kitutu Chache South, that has left residents shaken and demanding accountability.

According to reports, the child, identified as Davis Mogore, was stabbed to death by his father after allegedly refusing to go for Poshomill — a dispute residents cite as the motive behind the attack.

Neighbours say Davis had asked his father to wait while he finished a quick shower just outside their home before heading out. Sources indicate the father did not wait as expected and instead followed him. While Davis was bathing, his father, identified as Nyambati, is reported to have approached and stabbed him repeatedly.

Witnesses say the attack left the boy lying in a pool of blood, prompting immediate alarm among neighbours. Several residents said the father had shown violent behaviour prior to the incident, alleging he had threatened to kill the child on more than three occasions — warnings they say went unheeded for too long.

After learning of the stabbing, neighbours rushed to confront Nyambati, and tensions quickly escalated into an angry crowd gathering at the scene, with residents insisting he be held accountable. Police officers arrived in time to intervene, rescuing the suspect from the crowd and taking him into custody to allow investigations to proceed.

Residents commended the swift police response but called for stronger measures to ensure warning signs like this aren't ignored in the future.

The child's body has been taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where it is being held pending an autopsy.
