Ruto Heads to Raila's Backyard for 4 Days With KSh 220bn Goodies for Nyanza

 

President William Ruto is set to pitch camp in Nyanza for four days starting Sunday, September 13, in a high-profile tour carrying projects worth over KSh 220 billion for the region long seen as an ODM stronghold.

Ruto will tour Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori between September 13 and 16. He will kick off in Kisumu with a church service and inspection of national government projects, before moving to Siaya on Monday, Homa Bay on Tuesday and winding up in Migori on Wednesday.

Preparations are already underway. Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga revealed she met Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on September 10 together with MPs Joshua Oron and Rozaah Buyu and MCAs to align on county issues and plans for the presidential visit.

The projects on the table cut across roads, housing, markets, water and healthcare. In Kisumu, Ruto is expected to inspect the KSh 15.9 billion Kisumu-Chemelil-Muhoroni-Kipsitet road, the Lumumba Affordable Housing, the ongoing Moi Stadium upgrade and the Kisumu-Malaba SGR extension. In Siaya, focus will be on the Kodiaga-Rabango-Usenge road, Dhogoye Bridge and the Alego Usonga housing project.

The visit comes just after Ruto's South Rift tour and is seen as part of his strategy to consolidate support in Nyanza ahead of the 2027 polls.
